Academics

The Tacoma Public Schools provides a wide variety of academic programs for students of all abilities and needs. The district has alternative programs for students who do better in the non-traditional classroom, a K-8 Montessori School and rigorous Highly Capable programs, a Middle Years Programme (pre-IB), an International Baccalaureate (IB) program and Advanced Placement classes.

 Curriculum

The mission of the Curriculum and Instruction Department is to support high student academic achievement by providing standards-based unified K-12 curricula and materials grounded in effective instructional practices and designing professional development that supports building-based implementation plans.
