Truman Middle School

Truman Middle School provides the best possible education for all students, stressing excellence, citizenship and lifelong learning. Truman is focused on grade-level instructional teams for math, language arts, science and social studies. The teaming approach provides an opportunity to promote positive relationships between students, parents and teachers.

 

 5th to 6th Grade Transition

 

Tacoma School District is the proud recipient of a grant provided by the RAIKES Foundation to support students and families in the transition from 5th to 6th grade in the Mason/Truman region. The RAIKES Foundation is dedicated to the belief that regular participation in high quality programs leads to better personal, social and academic outcomes and higher self-esteem. http://raikesfoundation.org

The focus of the grant for the 2011-12 school year will include:

  • Implementation of the AVID program in 5th and 6th grades
     Overview of AVID (pdf)
  • Strong collaboration between teachers  in the Mason/Truman regions
  • Increased communication with families about successful transition to middle school
