Franklin Elementary School

The purpose of Franklin Elementary School is to provide a quality education for all students in a safe environment, in cooperation with parents and community. Franklin students have a wide range of abilities and come from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. Franklin's parents are an integrated part of school programs, and there is much community involvement.

5th to 6th Grade Transition

Tacoma School District is the proud recipient of a grant provided by the RAIKES Foundation to support students and families in the transition from 5th to 6th grade in the Mason/Truman region. The RAIKES Foundation is dedicated to the belief that regular participation in high quality programs leads to better personal, social and academic outcomes and higher self-esteem. http://raikesfoundation.org

The focus of the grant for the 2011-12 school year will include:

Implementation of the AVID program in 5th and 6th grades OVERVIEW OF AVID
Strong collaboration between teachers in the Mason/Truman regions
Increased communication with families about successful transition to middle school
